Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Alabama City, for Mrs. Edna "Lee" Sumpter Jordan, 69, Gadsden, who died July 27, 2013. The Rev. John W. Woods will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Hill Cemetery. Watson & Sons Funeral Home directing.Mrs. Jordan was born September 23, 1943, in Gadsden, Ala., to the union of the late Willie Joe Sumpter and Hattie Mae Robinson. At a very young age, she united with First Baptist under the leadership of Rev. E.L. Gary. She was a graduate of Carver High School in 1955. Mrs. Jordan was employed with Tyson Foods for many years.Her children are Dwight (Chante) Sumpter, Tamike Jordan of Montgomery, Stedric Jordan of Gadsden, Ashante Jordan of California, Sandra Hinton, Anniston, Ella Mae Childs, Attalla, Mary Frances and Betty Jean, both of Bronx, N.Y., and James Sumpter of Gadsden; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. today at First Baptist Church.
