CHOCORUA -- Edna A. Flanagan, 89, died Dec. 14, 2010, at home.She was born May 15, 1921, in Quincy, Fla. She graduated from Chattahoochee High School and Florida State Hospital School of Nursing and attended The Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, where she met her late husband, Raymond F. Flanagan.They married and moved to Boston where she worked for Dr. Elliot P. Joslin. They then moved to Chocorua, where they owned and operated The Spruce Up Inn. She was also one of Dr Edwin Remick's first nurses in Tamworth.In 1953, they moved to Berlin where she was a nurse at St Louis Hospital, while helping to run The Flanagan Insurance Agency. In 1964, they returned to Chocorua and opened a second Flanagan Insurance Agency, and owned and operated Beaver Dam Lodges.Family members include a daughter, Sandra Flanagan of Chocorua; two granddaughters, Kristine McCormick of Roanoke, Va., and Kimberly Renaud of Reston, Va.; and three great-granddaughters.SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Mrs. Flanagan's home, 1499 Chocorua Road. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, Center Ossipee, on Saturday at 10a.m.Memorial donations may be made to Tamworth Community Nurse Association and/or National Parkinson Foundation.Baker-Gagne Funeral Home in West Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.
