Whyte, Edith MargaretMarch 29, 1920 - Nov. 5, 2011Edith Margaret Whyte died peacefully at the age of 91 on Nov. 5, 2011.Born in Greensboro, Md. she came from Miami, Fla. in 1957 to Sarasota, Fla. and was a resident for 53 years. She married the love of her life Cliff in Everglades City, Fla. and was married for 59 years. She and her husband were members of the Lions and Lady Lions Club. In 1975 they moved to Lakeland, Fla. to direct the Florida Lions Camp for the Visually Handicapped. They returned to Sarasota after several years of service.Edith was a stay at home Mom until 1967 where she worked her favorite job as the front desk receptionist at The John Ringling Towers Hotel. Her family was always the most important focus in her life. She was an extremely generous and giving lady with a heart of gold. She loved to cook, do crafts and to knit and always had someone in mind to give her finished project to. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Edith will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Survivors included her daughter and best friend, Deborah "Debbie" (Tim) Kowal; sister, Ella Hutson of Greensboro, Md.; grandson, Tim Kowal Jr. and her "Yorkie" grand-dog, Phoebe. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Mark Whyte.Thank you mom for your constant love, genuine friendship and making me feel so blessed to have a mother as special as you.At her request, there will be no services. National Cremation and Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.Donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 as a gratitude for the services and care they provided her and her family.
