Edgar Coleman Venne, born in 1869, son of Emmett and Marie, died on February 7, 1942 at 73 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
VENNE, Edgar Coleman B.A. M.Ed. M.A.February 7, 1942 – September 7, 2015Peacefully in his sleep at the Montfort Hospital at the age of 73 following a lengthy struggle with Parkinson''s. Survived by his aunt Lilly Craig, his cousins Georgie Bracken, Joanne Harris, Wendy Kerr, Donna Gaudreau, Eddie Coleman, Danny Coleman and their families. Ed was predeceased by his father Emmett (1968) and his mother Marie (2015). In 1961, Ed graduated from St.Patrick''s College with a B.A. and he also earned a M.Ed. (School Counselling) from University of Ottawa and a M.A. (Counselling Psychology) from the Adler Institute of Chicago. His teaching career began at St. Mark''s High School in Aylmer. He then transferred to the Carleton Board of Education to teach History and counsel students at Osgoode Township High School, Colonel By Secondary School and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School. A learned and dedicated teacher and guidance counsellor he was greatly respected by his peers. The high esteem in which his fellow teachers held him speaks volume for the contribution he made towards the education of so many students throughout his 34 years in the profession. His style of relating to and leading those in his department clearly promoted the strong loyalty which guidance teachers demonstrated towards him throughout his career. Ed retired in 1996 as Parkinson''s was taking control of his life. It also took away his two true loves: golf and horse racing. Thank you to the staff at Amica Blackburn Hamlet, Home Instead Senior Care, the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre, the Civic Hospital Parkinson''s Clinic and the Montfort Hospital. A special thank you to those who visited, phoned or wrote to Ed. To Anna Duval of Home Instead Senior Care - a truly devoted, sympathetic and understanding lady who was Ed''s caregiver for the last 8 months, we offer a heartfelt and sincere thank you. No visitation. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark''s the Evangelist Church, 160 Principale St., Gatineau, QC (Aylmer section). The family will receive condolences following the service. The Catholic Women''s Guild will serve refreshments. Burial in the Coleman-Venne family plot, St Paul''s cemetery, Aylmer Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson''s Society or a charity of your choice.
