CASEY, Earle Robert Cecil - 1924-2008 - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Extendicare Haliburton on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in his 84th year. Loving husband for almost 63 years to his “Dearie“ and soul mate Jean (nee Gould). Wonderful father to Tim (Lornel), Dennis (Roxanne), Nedean (Dennis). Loving and much loved Poppa Earle of Pat (Jennifer), Joanna, Jason (Ashley), Pam, Kasey, Andrea (Dave), Lindsay, Danielle (Brad) and special Great Grampa to Regan, Parker, Reese, Kiera, McKinnon, Hannah, Devonte and Emily. Fondly Remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Born on an Emily Township farm, his family then moved to Peterborough. He served in WW II as a Rear Gunner in a Lancaster Bomber with the 428 Ghost Squadron Bomber Command. Earle retired from a manager's position with Bell Canada. He was the former manager of Dysart Independent Telephone System and he spent 8 years with the Victoria Haliburton Housing Authority in Lindsay. Earle volunteered his time to the Canadian Cancer Society for 22 years by driving Cancer Patients to out of town appointments, as well as donating his time to the Haliburton Home Support. Earle was dedicated to many organizations he assisted as a Cub Leader for 5 years, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #129, Haliburton for 57 years, a member of the North Entrance Masonic Lodge #463 for 42 years and Past Patron and Life Member of the Highland Chapter Order of Eastern Star for 41 years. Then to the Haliburton United Church for the Funeral Service on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Spring Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Haliburton. Memorial Donations to the Haliburton United Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family. Masonic service at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 6:30 pm.
