Earla-Jean-Gail Walker, born in 1938, spouse of Jimmy Walker, daughter of Ross and Gussie, died on May 14, 2009. Please consult the obituary here:
GAIL WALKER Earla Jean Gail passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Gail was born in Smeaton, SK on November 23rd, 1938. She was the second of six daughters. Gail is lovingly remembered by her son, Jim (Ewa) Walker of Edinburgh, Scotland and their children, Aleksandra, James, Valerie and John; daughter, Laurie Walker of Saskatoon; sisters, Beverly Green, Carol (Allan) MacDonald, Lynne (Hank) Zadorozny, Heather (Glen) Campbell and Elizabeth (Michael) Lulchak as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gail was predeceased by her husband, Jimmy (May 13th, 2008); parents, Ross and Gussie Walker of Saskatoon and parents-in-law, James and Christina Walker of Scotland. Gail spent her youth in Smeaton and Battleford, SK until the family moved to Saskatoon in 1948. She attended Wilson Elementary School and City Park Collegiate. Gail obtained her Business Administration Certificate from the U of S where she was employed for 35 years, with most of those years in the Department of Computer Science. Gail was industrious and creative and had a mischievous sense of humor. Mum loved to cook, garden and entertain and her home was always open to friends and family. The most important aspect of Gail's life was her children, Jim and Laurie, whom she cherished dearly. Gail was a gentle woman who was generous and kind to everyone. Her graciousness was evident, whether it be an offering of a home cooked meal, or a special hand crafted item. She always found innovative ways to create objects d'art. Many family members and friends proudly display these prized creations in their homes and yards. Gail's three dogs were important to her and she lavished Fugi, Emma and wee Ceilidh with much love and affection. Gail was very positive and upbeat and made the best of every situation. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to Addie Loomes of Palliative Home Care whose care and compassion made Gail's passing much easier. Thank you also to Dr. Stakiw and the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit of St. Paul's Hospital. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Gail's memory to the charity of choice. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 22nd, at 1:00 p.m. from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (436 Spadina Crescent) with Rev. Amanda Currie presiding.
