Ethel Murphy, a lifelong resident of White Plains, died Friday, January 2, 2004. She was 100. Ethel was born in White Plains on February 28, 1903 to Dennis and Anna Murphy. She was a Graduate from White Plains High School and worked as the manager for Westchester Valet Cleaners until her retirement. She was also the past president of White Plains Seniors, Chapter One and the past Treasurer of the Southern New York State Beagle Club. Although not in politics, she was a very active volunteer for the City of White Plains. She is survived by her two cousins Ruth Melito and John Douglass, and his wife Patricia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday at St. John the Evangelist Church, Hamilton Avenue, White Plains. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Ballard-Durand funeral home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains. Interment will be at Mt.Calvary Cemetery.
