She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., March 17, 1919, to Jessie C. and Margaret (Leigh) King. She was a school teacher, she was a graduate of Westminster College with a Bachelor's degree and later received a Master's Degree in Special Education. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a resident of Avon Park since 1957, coming from Miami, Fla. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Parker of Auburndale, Fla., and Susan Walters of Kileen, Texas; one son, Jan Johnson of Avon Park, Fla.; one stepson, Arnold (Judy) Johnson of New York; four grandchildren, Tommy Walters, Shelly Austin, Cindy Richardson and Crystal Johnson; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Johnson. Memorial services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Adams officiating.
