JOHNSON, ELSIE ELIZABETH MERRILL, was born on January 29, 1926 in Calry, PA. She passed away on Wed., Sept. 14, 2005, of cancer at the age of 79. Elsie attended Nyack Bible College in Nyack, NY. She graduated from Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, TN in 1949. Elsie married Rev. Lawrence Merrill in 1948 and raised a family of four children. She worked in home nursing most of her life and in the later years she owned and operated a Personal Care Home in Reynoldsville, PA. Elsie lived in many states during her life being Maine, Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Florida. For 40 years she worked along side her husband, Reverend Larry Merrill. They served many churches, including work with the Penobscot Indians on Indian Island of Oldtown, ME. In her later years she worked with the people of Haiti, West Indies, with her husband, Dan Johnson. Elsie accompanied Dan to Haiti many times where they were involved in many projects for missionaries and local pastors under Global Engineering Ministries of Kissimmee. Elsie and Dan were married in Haiti in 1998. Elsie loved people and enjoyed serving retired people from her home in Kissimmee. She was a member of Good Samaritan Community Church of Kissimmee and at times sang in the choir. Elsie is survived by her husband Dan Johnson and three sisters, Marian Hively, Doris Anderson and Ruth Marvin. Elsie also is survived by her four children; Wayne Merrill, of Chestertown, MD, Maribeth Waite & Eunice Long of Reynoldsville, PA; Sherman J. Merrill of Winter Garden. She has nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Lawrence Merrill in 1987, Jack Sutton in 1989; Dale Corbin in 1997. The services will be held in Reynoldsville, PA, where she will be laid to rest in the Lake Lawn Cemetery.
