Obituary of Ellen Powell


Powell, Ellen Johnson, 77, a resident of Eclectic, AL, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimers. She has won eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 a White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Young and Pastor Joe Creamer officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 on Tuesday at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Pearlie Johnson; sister, Jean Cummings; and brother, Howard Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Powell; son, Steve Powell; daughter, Cindy (Tony) Myrick; granddaughter, Whitney Myrick; grandson, Starsky (Sarah) Smith; great-grandson, Owyn Smith; sisters, Sarah Folcomer, Claudia Mathieu; and special sister-in-law, Betty Spivey. A special thank you to would like to be given to Mable DeJarnett, hospice nurses, Sheila, Angela, Emily, Karen, Elizabeth, and Chaplain Robert Strickland for the care they gave to Mrs. Powell. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellen's name can be made to Hospice Advantage, 4233 Wetumpka Highway, Montgomery, AL 36110 or to Agape Assembly of God in Eclectic, AL.
