BLACK, ELLA A.Ella A. Black, a former Croton resident, died Tuesday at Vassar Hospital, in Poughkeepsie. She was 76. Ella was employed for 13 years at the Croton Watch Company, for 10 years at Maryknoll in Ossining and for 6 years as a Cafeteria Worker in the Croton School District. She was born on August 23, 1928 to William and Sarah Byers Anderson. On September 3, 1950 she married Arthur Black at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Croton. Her family said that she enjoyed reading, craft works, such as knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. She is survived by her husband Arthur of Wappingers Falls, her sons Jerome (Judy) of New Mexico, William (Susan) of Wappingers Falls and James (Anita) of Crystal River, FL; also her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Calling hours are Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand Street, Croton. A Graveside Service is planned for late next week.
