Elizabeth "Betty" Stanton White of Ridgefield, CT, formerly of Ossining, NY died quietly on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Bethel Health Care Center after a 3 year battle with cancer. She was 71 years old. Betty was born on January 4th, 1936 in Ossining, NY. After graduating from Ossining High School in 1953, Betty worked as a secretary to the head of psychiatry at Grasslands Hospital in Valhalla, NY. On August 9, 1958 she married Harry Clayton White, also of Ossining. Together they raised 7 children. Betty worked for the Ossining Public School system for 25 years, as a teacher's aide and eventually a much loved school secretary. Her summers were happily spent working at the 52 Association for Disabled Veterans in Ossining, NY. Betty was a life-long member of St. Ann's Church in Ossining, and recently became a member of St. Mary's Parish in Ridgefield, CT. Betty is survived by her children Harry (Christine) White of Sayville, NY, Thomas (Catherine) White of New Rochelle, NY, Marjorie (Ken) Schweizer of Hopewell Junction NY, KC (Bob) Peckham of Ridgefield, CT, Martin (Angela) White of Elmsford, NY, Valerie White of Bethel, CT, and Carol Jean (George) Thomas of Ridgefield CT. She is also survived by 15 devoted grandchildren, her sisters Barbara Anderson of Newburgh, NY, Helen Wheeler of Ossining, NY and her brother, Thomas Stanton of Lisbon, ME. She was predeceased by her parents Tom and Lucy Stanton and sisters Marjorie Stanton and Carol Isaacson. The family will receive friends at the Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home, Ossining on Friday, November 16th, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass St. Ann's Church, Ossining on Saturday at 9:30 am.
