ELIZABETH EMMA (ALLEN) JOHNSON Elizabeth Emma (Allen) Johnson, 78, died on January 8th, 2015, in Carmel, Indiana, where she had lived with her son, after residing for many years in Fort Pierce, Florida. She was predeceased by her former husband Gary Johnson of Martinsville, Indiana, and is survived by their son, John Johnson of Carmel, as well as her sister, Carolyn Rupprath, and her brother John Allen, both of Fort Pierce. Elizabeth was born on February 9th, 1936, in Clay City, Indiana, to the late Fred and Mary (Spoors) Allen. She was a graduate of Elston Sr. High School in Michigan City, Indiana, and Indiana State University. She also attended DePauw University, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. As a librarian, she worked for several years at the Emeline Fairbanks Memorial Library in Terre Haute. As a teacher, she worked in several cities in Indiana, including Terre Haute, Richmond, Portage, and Michigan City. She retired from teaching in 2000, after working for 26 years at several schools in St. Lucie County, Florida. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and in Europe, gardening at home, and going to events with her co-workers. She received many gifts, card and photos from her students through the years and kept them dearly. She was very energetic in her life, moving hurriedly from one task to another to get everything done. Now, at last, she is able to rest. No funeral services will be held.
