EMBDEN -- Elizabeth Adeline "Betty" Miller, 99, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at her home in Embden. She was born June 28, 1913, in Overbrook, Philadelphia, to Eric and Elizabeth (Love) Ottey.Betty taught physical education and history for several years in Pennsylvania and continued her education earning a master's degree in Library Science in 1958. She worked as a librarian from 1958 until her retirement in 1983. In 1987 she moved to Embden and became an active member in the community. She was a member of the Embden Historical Society, serving as vice president in 1988-89 and as president 1989-1991. She was active in various projects including Maine Street '90 and volunteered at the Embden Elementary School Library. In August of 2010, Betty received the Boston Post Cane honoring her as Embden's oldest resident.She is survived by a son, Richard W. Miller of Worton, Md.; a daughter, Betty Jo Taffe of Rumney, N.H.; sisters Peggy Ann Whitaker of North Anson and Pauline Hill of Houston; a granddaughter Darcy M. Miller of Cochranville, Pa., grandsons Daniel D. Taffe of Concord, N.H., and Michael A. Taffe of San Diego, Calif., five great-grandchildren, and various nieces and nephews, including Carol and Craig Campbell of Anson, Robin and Tom Wilkey of North New Portland, and Scott and Melissa Whitaker of South Portland.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at the North Anson Congregational Church with the Rev. David Walz officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's honor to the Embden Historical Society, c/o Mitchell Quint, Treasurer, P.O.
