Obituary of Eleanor-Riggs Johnson

JOHNSON, ELEANOR RIGGS, was the only child of Oliver and Elizabeth Leona Bastain Riggs and was born on Friday December 13, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended St. Raphels grammar school through the 8th grade. Then she attended Dormont High School in Dormont, PA and graduated from Swickley High School in Swickley, PA in June of 1947. During her working life Eleanor worked for North American Assurance Company and Seaboard Coast Line Railroad in Richmond, VA. She was transferred from Richmond, VA to Jacksonville, FL where she met her husband Tesla Francis Johnson. Tesla Francis and Eleanor were married on October 17, 1975. She retired from Seaboard Coast Line Railroad in January of 1978 after over 14 years of service. Eleanor loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was very active in her church work, being a charter member of two Baptist Churches. One church was in Jacksonville, FL and the other in Orlando, FL. When they moved to Land of Lakes, FL, she was a member and actively supported the First Baptist Church of Wesley Chapel. When they moved to Grand Island, FL she moved her membership and supported the work at Bay Street Baptist in Eustis, FL where she was a current member. Eleanor's big smile and bright eyes earned her the nickname of Sunshine, which she liked very much. Now heaven is a better place because Eleanor is there. Through Eleanor's life people could see Jesus as she lived for Him. She would share how to get to heaven with all that were willing to listen. On March 14, 2006 at 1:45AM God called Eleanor to come home. Eleanor is survived by husband, Tesla F. Johnson; two sons, Leonard Lee Cornutt and family of Killeen, TX, Thomas W. Cornutt and family of Lake Worth, FL, and one daughter Donna S. Hurd and family of Greenacres, FL. Funeral services will be held 3:PM, Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Bay Street Baptist Church, Eustis with Reverend Mark Douglas officiating. Interment will follow at Ponceannah Cemetery, Paisley. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Friday at the funeral home. Beyers Funeral Home, Umatilla.
