ELEANOR "ELLIE" MACDONALDMARCH 4, 2011Eleanor "Ellie" MacDonald, age 79, from Del Turo, N. Fort Myers passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2011 while in Denver CO. Her husband of 60 years Elmer "Mac", son Dennis MacDonald and daughter Sharon Carlson both of Bridgewater, CT were at her side. Eleanor was born in Plainfield, NJ on January 7, 1932 daughter of Lillian and Jacob Alberti. In addition to her husband, son and daughter 6 grandchildren and 1great-grandson survive her. Eleanor graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1950 and earned her License Practical Nurse in 1971. She spent a number of years giving loving private care to elderly individuals addition to patients in physician's practices.Eleanor and her daughter opened Geppetto's Toys in Woodbury, CT in 1987. Mother and daughter remained a successful team for 20 years. In 2000, she was recognized for her winning combination of business sense and kindness in the Historical Encyclopedia of American Women Entrepreneurs. Eleanor had a love for sewing, genealogy, travel. Many of her good friends will recall her enjoyment of dancing with Mac and never being too old for the "Jitter-Bug". Eleanor's passion for fashion was a trademark no matter what the occasion. A memorial service will take place on Saturday March 12th, 2011 in Newtown, CT.
