March 7, 2007 E. Paul McMahon, D.D.S., 86, of Baldwinsville, NY, formerly of Syracuse, died Wednesday, March 7, in Wilmington, NC. A life resident of Syracuse, he practiced dentistry in Syracuse for 51 years, retiring in January of 1995. He was a graduate of C.B.A., attended Niagara University as an undergraduate and graduated from the University of Buffalo Dental School in 1944. Dr. McMahon was a WWII veteran, serving as a captain in the ETO with the 143rd regiment, 36th infantry division, where he was awarded the Combat Medic Badge and the ETO Ribbon with two battle stars. Dr. McMahon served in many capacities in organized dentistry, having served as a dental attending on St. Joseph's Hospital staff for 26 years. He was Chief of Dental Services at Van Duyn Hospital for 24 years. He was a life member and past president of the Onondaga County Dental Society. He was also a life member of the 5th District Dental Society and a life member of the American Dental Association. He was a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy of Dentistry. Dr. McMahon was a 21-year member of Bellevue Country Club. He was president of the Senior Advisory Board of McMahon-Ryan Child Advocacy Site, to which his generous contribution of the building made this organization a possibility. A lifetime member and daily communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church, he was a member of the Ushers Club, Men's Club and the Men's Choir. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine LiVecchi McMahon of Wilmington, NC; four daughters, Ann Marie Curtin (David) of Fairfield, CT, Margaret R. Rauch (Charles) of Camillus and Christine J. McMahon and Elizabeth A. McMahon, both of Syracuse; three sons, Paul L. McMahon (Louise) of Millis, MA, and Joseph H. McMahon (Linda) and Peter G. McMahon (Jeanne), both of Syracuse; one sister, Jeanne M. Ryan of Syracuse; three brothers, Robert A., James J. and Michael P. McMahon, all of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; also, his wife's children, Troy A. LiVecchi and Geralyn (Jason) LiVecchi Marshburn and his wife's two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth L. "Bette" McMahon, in February 1998; a daughter, Ellen Elizabeth Mahar, in 1973; two grandchildren, Ezekiel G. McMahon in 1988 and Peter G. McMahon Jr. in 1990; and one brother, John R. McMahon, in 1972. Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church. Contributions may be made to the McMahon-Ryan Child Advocacy Site, 509 West Onondaga St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
