She then moved to the New England Regional Primate Center in Southborough, and studied the reproductive behavior of the cotton- topped tamarins amongst other primates and non primates. She gave as much of herself to the community as she did to her family and children. She was responsible for the development for the medical library at Framingham Union Hospital, now MetroWest Medical Center, and the Framingham Union Nursing School, now the Cancer Center, and also the first historic district in Framingham. She was instrumental in improving the Framingham school system while on the school committee, of which she was a member and later a chairwoman. She was a loving supporter and sage advisor to her husband, children, and their friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Johnson, M.D., who was a well-loved and respected physician in Framingham; her daughter, Laurel "Muffin" Lyons, M.D., of Woodsville, N.H., and James Samuel "Sam" Johnson. She leaves behind her family, daughter, Amy Johnson, M.D., of Rochester; son, Robert Johnson Jr., of Framingham; grandson, Christopher Lyons, of Greenland, N.H.; and granddaughters, Sarah Lyons of Andover, and Devon Johnson of Rochester.
