->BANGOR - Douglas T. Crawford, 55, died Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born April 13, 1957, in Mount Holly, N.J., son of John Crawford Jr. and Ruth (Richie) Crawford.Douglas was a wonderful father and grandfather. He spent a lot of time taking care of his family, and took special joy in his three grandchildren. In his earlier years, Douglas worked as a volunteer firefighter and an emergency medical technician for the town of Milo. In Milo, he also served as town councilman. He worked for many years at O&R Lumber. Douglas attended Eastern Maine Community College where he earned the distinction of being the first male to ever receive the Florence Nightingale Award in nursing. After achieving his registered nursing degree, Douglas was employed as a nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center.Douglas was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Julie (Harper) Crawford of Bangor; beloved daughter, Rebekah (Crawford) Peterson and husband, Matthew, of Brewer; cherished grandchildren, Sadie, Alex and Bennett, all of Brewer; and brother, John Crawford III and wife, Debbie, of Pennsylvania.A private, family service will be held at a later date.
