HARTT, DOUGLAS JEROME Douglas Jerome Hartt of Minto N.B. passed away peacefully on November 27, 2006 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was the son of the late Anthony Hartt and Catherine (O'Leary) Hartt. Douglas is survived by sisters Ella Vanderbroeck of Minto, Janet Hartt of Minto and Anne McLeod of Chipman; sister-in-law Cecilia Hartt of Minto and Katherine Hartt of Dartmouth; and brother-in-law Robert Anson of Fredericton. Douglas is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Douglas was predeceased by his parents and brothers Emmett, Clement, Owen, Leo and William and sisters Theresa and Ruth. Douglas, a graduate of St Francis Xavier University was an employee of the Federal Government and lived in Ottawa for many years. Upon retirement, he returned to Minto and was instrumental in creating Minto's Food Bank along with the non-profit housing units for the community Resource Center. Douglas also worked tirelessly in the formation of plans for and creation of the current Minto Senior Citizen's Hall. This building is located on land donated by his family. Gardening became a passion for Douglas. Summers were spent creating gardens of beauty for all to enjoy. Visitations will be held at the Minto Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00AM Wednesday, November 29th, 2006 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Minto with Father Peter Stephen officiating. Interment will take place in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Hardwood Ridge, NB. Donations in his memory may be made to Minto Community Resource Center, 19 Union St. in Minto, N.B.
