-->Dorothy S. Sparks UNION, SC-- Mrs. Dorothy S. Sparks, age 84, formerly of Birchwood Drive, Union, died on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Eden Terrace of Spartanburg, where she had made her home for the last two years. Mrs. Sparks was born in Union, SC, daughter of the late Ernest Strickland and Jeanette Sumner Strickland. She was a graduate of Union High School and Cecils Business College. She was retired from the Union County Veterans Administration Office and did volunteer work with Wallace Thomson Hospital. She was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Senior Adult Ministry and was a member of the Union County Senior Citizens as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Sparks was married to the late Hugh W. Sparks, who died while serving in the U.S. Air Force. She is survived by her beloved son, Hugh W. Sparks, Jr. and his wife, Jyoti of Spartanburg, SC. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in Union Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Tommy Bailey and Chaplain Randy Travis. The family will receive friends following the committal service at Union Memorial Gardens.
