Dorothy Randall Murphyformerly of OwegoDorothy Randall Murphy, 79 years, died on Monday morning, October 30, 2006, at her home after an extended illness. Dot was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Eugene Murphy; and a son, Randall Joseph Murphy. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Murphy, Amelia Island, Fla., and Janyce and her husband, Al, Johnson, Albion, N.Y.; a son, Gregory M. Murphy, Owego; five grandchildren, Colin Mather, Amelia Island, Fla., Eric Johnson and his wife, Kim, Conshohocken, Pa., Kyle and Soren Johnson, Charlotte, N.C., and Eryn Murphy, Princeton, N.J.; a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Johnson, Conshohocken, Pa.; and her adopted daughter, Christine Gilbride Murray, Binghamton. Dot was an accomplished athlete and an avid golfer. She was a graduate of the Riverhead High School, Riverhead, L.I., and Cortland State. She was a retired physical education teacher at the Harry L. Johnson Elementary School, Johnson City. Dot was very devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "HADO".A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street Binghamton, with Rev. Joseph O'Connor officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday at 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
