DOROTHY WINGATE PATTERSON1930-2008Dorothy Wingate Patterson, 78 of Pensacola, FL, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008. She was born January 4, 1930, in Pensacola, FL to the late John and Ethel Wingate. She was the eldest of eight children. She received her education in the schools of Escambia County, FL. She finished high school from Booker T. Washington Class of 1949 and attended Bethune Cookman College. She was married to the late Odis Patterson in 1962.She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Grand Lagoon Homemakers, and the American Legion Post #240 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as a past president.She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.She leaves to cherish her memories, one loyal son, Robert Patterson; two daughters, Carametrice Patterson and Areanetta D'Andrea; one granddaughter, Jennifer D'Andrea; one grandson, Adrian Mathis, Jr.; four sisters, Rosie (Cliff) Reynolds, Ethel (Comer) Coleman, Gladys Wingate, and Linda Wingate Green; three brothers, Alvin Wingate, James (Gail) Wingate, Tampa, FL; and John (Peggie) Wingate, Mobile, AL; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Henderson, Detroit, MI and Mary Patterson, Chicago, IL; 14 nieces and 11 nephews; special friends, Mrs. Julie Norris and Ms. Mary Fahforth; and a host of other relatives and friends.Viewing will be 12 noon, followed by the services at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Thursday, April 24, 2008. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 10:15 a.m. Members of the Gulf Coast Universal Riders will serve as active pallbearers, and her nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
