Dorothy Murphy UTICA Dorothy Murphy, 84, of Utica, passed away on March 23, 2015, at the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford. A native of Utica, Dorothy was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and MVCC and retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. During her retirement years, Dorothy filled her time with volunteering at Thea Bowman House, as a member of the CSJ Associates, golfing, and as a talented finisher of wooden furniture. Most recently, a parishioner of Annunciation Church in Clark Mills, Dorothy's Catholic faith sustained her throughout life and gave her courage during her recent illness. She will be remembered for her deep love of family and friends, her candid voice and her private nature that was filled with love, sincerity and hospitality for others. Dorothy is survived by a sister, Trudy Murphy, of Clinton; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Cotter, of Clinton, Alfred and Vivian Grant, of Florida, and Joan W. Murphy, of Arizona; twenty beloved nieces and nephews; twenty seven great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nieces and nephews of the Murphy, Cahalan, Grant, Poupart and Burns families. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Patrick and Helen (Fitzgerald) Murphy; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Rita and Jim Poupart, Katherine Grant, Julia and Bill Cahalan, and Bernadette Cotter; her brothers, William, Joseph and John Murphy; and nephew, John P. Poupart. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Saturday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive guests at the conclusion of Mass.
