McDONALD, Dorothy Erma (nee Frey) Dorothy McDonald passed away on Thursday, June 3, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Born on July 1, 1929 in Edmonton, she lived her entire life in the city. Predeceased by her parents, Fred and Minna Frey, Dorothy is survived by her husband of 51 years Ron, children Edward (Michele Sawaztky), James and Sandra (Jim Lochhead), grandchildren Richard, Janet, Austen and Caitlyn, sisters Helen Richards (Tom) of Edmonton, Mary (Colin) Fusedale of Camrose, and brothers Arthur (Betty) of Kelowna and Ed (Gladys) of Calgary. Dorothy's life worked consisted of raising her three children and extensive contribution to her community in many volunteer roles. After her children were grown, Dorothy worked for the City of Edmonton until her retirement. Dorothy and her friends and family are appreciative of the efforts of those who cared for her, particularly over the past six years in a struggle with Parkinson's and the effects of a stroke. The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Fraser Armstrong and the staff of Laurier House where she resided for the past five and a half years. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Chapel, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton, AB.
