SMITH, DOROTHY MAE Dorothy Mae Smith, made her 'Transition To Glory' on Sunday, July 24, 2005 after a long illness. Born March 26, 1927 she was the eighth of ten children born to Frank and Berdie Keyes in North Carolina. Dorothy moved to Haverstraw, NY at a young age and studied in the Haverstraw Schools. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church where she met and married James A. Smith on July 4, 1947. Dorothy worked for 30 years as a Hospital Clinical Assistant at Helen Hayes Hospital and relocated to Virginia for several years after her retirement. A strong woman of faith, she more recently has been living at the Robert Yeager Health Center in Pomona while attending church at The New City Gospel Fellowship. Her husband James died in 1975 and her daughter Iris passed away in 2003. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Dawn) of Middletown and Richard (Amy) of West Haverstraw. One daughter, Pamela Muhammad of Virginia Beach. Two brothers Solomon Keyes of North Carolina and Hubert (Hester) Keyes of Haverstraw. Two sisters, Dora Ebron of NC and Bertha Watson of NJ. Two sisters-in-law, Mabel Booker and Rosemary Kennon of CT. 16 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews ad friends. Arrangements include a wake on Wednesday July 27 at Calvary Baptist Church (15 Clinton St.) in Haverstraw at 7 pm and Funeral Service on Thursday July 28 at the New City Gospel Fellowship (384 New Hempstead Rd.) New City at 11 am.
