BURKE, DOROTHY MABLE - The death of Mrs. Dorothy Mable (Evans) Burke, of 221 Ellerdale St., formerly of 975 Old Black River Road, Saint John, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday morning, November 23, 2003. She was the wife of the late Leo Lawrence Burke. Born in Lorneville, NB, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Theodore and Cecelia M. W. (Causey) Evans. She worked for many years as a clerk with Trecartin Grocers in Saint John. Dorothy was a former member of Centenary Queen Square United Church. She is survived by a step son, Lloyd (Jean) Burke, Fredericton, NB, sisters: Leona (Allaby) Comeau, Lorna Boyd, both of Saint John, Bernice George, Hamilton, Ont., Linda Evans, Moncton, NB, and Marie (Norman) Howe, Lorneville, NB, one brother, Douglas Evans, Saint John, NB, several step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Viola Evans. Besides her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by brothers; William, Ronald and Melvin Evans as well as two sisters; Gladys Cartwright and Frances McLeod. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 from Brenan's Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
