Dorothy M. Williams Rome Dorothy M. Williams, 87, of North Madison St., Rome, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Rome Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born February 8, 1924, in Utica, NY, the daughter of David and Ethel Myers VanVleck. She graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in 1942. On September 18, 1943, she married Albert Currie "Big Al" Williams at Camp Grant, Rockford, Illinois. He died March 27, 2005. Dorothy worked at Rome Cable and at the Rome Developmental Center for 26 years, retiring in 1979. She helped her husband and sons with Williams Enterprises, consisting of Williams Snowplowing and Rome Grown Garlic. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward Currie Williams, Rome, Gerald Lee and Sue Williams, Deland, FL, and Albert Currie and Sandra Williams, Rome; eight grandchildren, Shawn Edward Williams, Cornville, AZ, Amy Beth Williams, Bozeman, MT, Heather Ann Christian, Austin, TX, Lynette Lee Good, Daytona Beach, FL, Sarah Lynn Wagers, Ormond Beach, FL, and Mackenzie Lynn Williams, Kyle Joseph Williams and Tyler Currie Williams, all of Rome; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Matteson, in 2010. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court Street, Rome.
