January 23, 2006 Dorothy M. Murphy, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at the Loretto Cunningham-Fahey home on January 23, 2006. She was born and raised in Syracuse, the daughter of the late William and Mary Kramer. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Robert "Ty" Murphy in 1990, and her oldest son, Robert W. in 2004. As a dedicated mother of five children, she committed her life to her family and her faith. Surviving are three sons, Daniel Murphy (Michelle) of Denver, CO, David Murphy of Fayetteville, NY, Patrick Murphy of Tempe, AZ; one daughter, Catherine Elwell of Syracuse, NY; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Resurrection Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the memory of Dorothy Murphy to the Loretto Foundation, 700 East Brighton Ave, Syracuse, NY 13205.
