GREENSBORO - Dorothy M. Ling, 93, died at her home on April 5, 2009. She was born Sept. 26, 1915, the daughter of Alton and Bertha (Young) White. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1933, Johnson Normal School in 1935, and Goddard College in 1970. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Fred A. Ling. She taught for many years in the northern Vermont area.She was a member of Greensboro United Church of Christ, Caspian Lake Grange, Hazen Road Pomona Grange and Riverside Chapter Eastern Star. She was a local news reporter with the Hardwick Gazette and Caledonia Record. Greensboro honored her in 1990 with the Greensboro Award for Community Service.Survivors include: her son, Arthur of Hardwick, daughter Alice of Derry, N.H.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Clara Wells of Marshfield and brother Lawrence White of Glover; many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was predeceased by her husband, Fred, her son, Alton and sister, Josephine White and brother, Irwin White.Visiting hours will be Monday, April 13th, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60 Elm Street, Hardwick.A Memorial Service will be held at the Greensboro United Church of Christ on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 1 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Greensboro United Church of Christ, Mission Fund, Greensboro, Vt. 05841 or to the Caledonia Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 383, St. Johnsbury, Vt. 05819.Northern Vermont Funeral Service, Hardwick, is in charge of arrangements.
