Dorothy M. Anderson July 31, 1924 - September 13, 2012 HYANNIS PORT, MA - Dorothy M. Anderson, 88, of Hyannis Port, MA, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012. Born on July 31, 1924 in Quincy, MA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert N. and Dorothy (Walden) Burns. After completing high school, she attended Boston University. She also proudly served in the United States Navy. In 1945, she married the love of her life, Albert E. Anderson and they shared 56 happy years together. She was a 40 year resident of Norwich, and later moved to Hyannis Port, MA in 1982. Dorothy was a 36 year member of the Pautipaug Country Golf Club in Baltic. She also held a membership in the Hyannis Port Golf Club, the Hyannis Port Beach Club and the Hyannis Port Civic Association. Dorothy was also a very skilled duplicate bridge player. Dorothy will forever be remembered for her selfless generosity and compassion that she gave to others in need. Her children will never forget the valuable life lessons and the unconditional love and support that she always gave them. Dorothy knew the value of the family and friends that she had been blessed with and she cherished every moment that she shared with them. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Albert E. Anderson in 2001; and her sister, Phyllis Burns. Dorothy leaves behind her sons, Gregg Anderson and his wife, Terry of Hyannis Port, MA, Glenn Anderson and his wife, Robyn of Fort Worth, TX; her daughter, Sybil Maiers and her husband, John of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Tess Anderson, Todd Anderson, Jason Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson, Tanya Maiers, Travis Maiers; three great grandchildren; and her sister Sybil Leary. Friends may call from 5 P.M. - 7 P.M. on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Doane, Beal &amp; Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street in Hyannis, MA. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Federated Church of Hyannis, 320 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601. A private burial service for immediate and extended family members will follow in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
