Obituary of Dorothy-Louise Smith


SAMSON, DOROTHY LOUISE SMITH "MAMA SITTER" A retired buyer for Goudchaux's, she died after a brief illness on Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at 7:05 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 88 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Frank Bass. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by a beloved friend, David Roach; best friend, Ann Ross; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Samson Tucker and James Robert Tucker; son and daughter-in-law, Charles C. Samson Sr. and Carol Anne Gaudin Samson; eight grandchildren, James Robert Tucker Jr., Dottie Sue Tucker Babin, John Brandon Tucker, Laura Samson Martin, Daphne Samson LeSage, Charles Clifford Samson Jr., Cyd Samson Higgins and Becky Samson Dodds; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Clifford Joseph Samson; parents, William Orestes Smith and Stella Ware Smith; brothers and sisters, Charles E. Smith, Ouida McCurley, Willie Westhe, Mildred Bueto and Mae Smith; grandson, Barry Lynn Samson; and great-granddaughter, Hallie Samson. Pallbearers will be Ron LeSage, John LeSage, Corey LeSage, Benton Higgins II, T-Darryl Higgins Jr., Kenneth Samson and Randy Wallace. Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Babin and Logan Samson. She loved to travel and socialize and enjoyed spending time with family. She was a St. Anthony's mother and enjoyed attending the annual Mother's Day dinner with her daughter-in-law, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She also enjoyed playing weekly bridge games with friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
