May 16, 1926-May 8, 2008 REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio - Dorothy Louise Jackson, 81, formerly a resident of Sandusky, Ohio and Augusta, Georgia, passed away on May 8, 2008 at the home of her son William Jackson after a year-long battle with lung cancer. She was born May 16, 1926 in Washington County, Georgia, to Cherry and Moses Jackson. She had graduated from T. J. Ellis High School in Washington County, Georgia. She later moved to Augusta, Georgia where she married Thomas Jackson, also known as Tommie Jackson, Jr., her husband of 26 years. She and Tommie moved to Sandusky, Ohio where they raised their children. After Tommie passed, she relocated back to Augusta to take care of her ailing father. She finally moved to Columbus, Ohio to her recent home. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and Swint Springs Baptist Church. She served for many years as a sympathetic caregiver at various medical facilities and hospitals in the Sandusky area. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was devoted to assisting in the care of people with needs. She instilled in her children the desire for knowledge that formed the basis of their educational achievement She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Fabienne) Jackson of West Hartford, Connecticut, William (Melissa) Jackson of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; five grandchildren, Aislynn, Nicole, Brandon, Thomas and Gabrielle; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Mary Susan; her brothers, Bean Swint, William 'Sonny Boy' Jackson and Johnnie Jackson; and her sisters, Willie Ferguson and Eloise Perry. There will be no visitation. The family will have a private gathering. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling the arrangements. The family wishes to acknowledge Robin Steward, her caregiver, and the VistaCare staff, especially Caroline Newman, her nurse, for their support during Dorothy's last few weeks.
