Obituary of Dorothy-L. Murphy


Dorothy L. Murphyformerly of VestalDorothy L. Murphy, 83, formerly of Vestal, died peacefully Wednesday morning, October 25, 2006, at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Owego. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo J. Murphy; and her mother, Angie Langland. She is survived by her son, Jack Murphy, Vestal; her daughter, Patricia Murphy, Owego; and her grandson, Jeremiah, Owego. The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview Manor Nursing Home for their loving care of Dorothy. She was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School and a retired employee of the IBM Corp. She was a member of the Vestal Historical Society. She loved genealogy, and also loved to sew, crochet, and was an avid gardener. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her.A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. from Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Patrick's Church in Owego. The Rev. Thomas Watts will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., State Rt. 434, Apalachin, Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Tioga County Rural Ministry, North Ave., Owego, N.Y. 13827.
