SARATOGA SPRINGS Dorothy K. Williams, a resident of Embury Apartments on Lawrence Street, died Friday, June 6, 2003 at Saratoga Hospital. She was 87. Born on March 24, 1916 in Albany, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Marie (Wolfe) Klapp. Mrs. Williams, formerly of Stillwater, was a long time area resident and has lived in Saratoga Springs for the past 21 years. She and her husband were owners and long established trainers of standard bred race horses in the area and she was on the board of directors at the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame. She was a member of the New York Racing Association, the United States Trotting Association and member and past president of the Saratoga Harness Horsewomen's Association. Mrs. Williams and her husband also owned and operated the Admiral's Marina and Restaurant in Stillwater and were former members of the Stillwater United Church. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Kenneth Williams; a brother, John Klapp; and a sister, Isabel Heilmann. She is survived by her niece, Gerry Goodsell and her husband Harold; Marjorie Meinhardt and her children who were her extended family; and her foster daughter, Dorothy Eckertt and her husband Richard, all of Saratoga Springs; a sister, Harriet Elmendorf of Voorheesville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373 or burkefuneralhome.com). Burial will follow in the family plot at Stillwater Union Cemetery in the Town of Stillwater. Friends may call from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the services.
