JOHNSON-REIST _ Dorothy May (Barnes) January 5, 1914 - April 27, 2008 We are so sad to say good-bye to our Mother, Grandmother, and special Auntie "Babe" who passed away peacefully at Bow View Manor on April 27, 2008. Dorothy was born in Sussex, England, but at the early age of six journeyed to Fort Macleod, Alberta by ship and train - enduring an iceberg crash in 1920. She grew up the park warden's daughter in Waterton Lakes Park where she developed her love of the outdoors, flowers, and animals. Here Dorothy met her beloved husband, Edward Johnson, who was a "Park" Carpenter. They raised two daughters, Joan and Edna in Milk River and Nanton, Alberta. They moved to High River, Alberta, in 1963 where she resided until moving to Bow View Manor in Calgary nearly three years ago. She was also predeceased by second husband, Floyd Reist. Dorothy was exuberant in all that she did. She was an expert cook, gardener, and seamstress. Dorothy also loved her art where she painted in oils, took countless photographs, and played bridge and cribbage like a card shark. She loved to travel and did so extensively through Europe, but especially loved her trips to Hawaii and Victoria, B.C., with her sister Effie. Dorothy was a special friend to everyone, volunteering extensively in the church and hospital in High River. Daughters, Edna Robinson (Maurice) and Joan Trozzo (Luigi), special niece Elaine Hamilton, grandchildren, nieces, and the generations that made her a great-great-grandmother are so proud of the full life that Dorothy lived. Dorothy's family would like to thank the very considerate staff at Bow View Manor who made her so comfortable in her last days. They not only extended such exceptional care to Dorothy, but exhibited such kindness to the family which surrounded her. Dorothy will be celebrated at a private family memorial. If desired, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society AB & NWT Division Office: 200, 1301 - 8 St. S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2R 1B7 in her memory.
