->Stuart, Dorothy Jean ScaggsBinghamton: 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 13, 2012. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald Frank Stuart, and her brother, Royce William Scaggs. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Stuart Laswell (Bruce) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jennifer Stuart Guszack (Joseph, deceased) of Endwell. She is survived by four grandchildren, Gregory Stuart Guszack (Catherine) of Rye, NY, Katherine Laswell Maco (Jeremy) of Brooklyn, NY, Bradley Joseph Guszack (Amanda) of Mahopac, NY, and Stuart Hartig Laswell of Denver, CO. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren Eleanor Laswell Maco, Bradley Joseph Guszack, Jr., and Avery Chandler Guszack. She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and met and married her husband, an officer in the U.S. Army, in Memphis, TN. The southern belle became a Yankee when they moved to New York in 1946 but always retained her southern roots, graciousness, and charm. She was a bookkeeper for Chenango Valley Veterinary Hospital and Binghamton Industrial Supply Co. She served her community as a member of the Hillcrest Garden Club, Monday Afternoon Club, and Rotary Inner Wheel. She was a volunteer at Lourdes Hospital for 25 years and on the Board of the Fenton Free Library. An avid golfer, she played in the Ladies Tuesday A.M. Golf League for many years. A woman of strong faith and spirit, she was a member of Main Street Baptist Church for 60 years and served on many committees and in leadership positions, including Treasurer of the Missions Committee. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10am at the Main Street Baptist Church 117 Main Street Binghamton. Her Pastor the Rev. Timothy Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 -4pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. 428 Main Street Johnson City.
