UntitledDOROTHY JANECAMPBELL SMITH1929-2008Dorothy Jane Campbell Smith, 78, of Pensacola died Sunday, March 9, 2008.Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Lelia Mai Hallmark and Thomas B. Campbell, Sr. born on August 5, 1929, in the home of her maternal grandparents, George Chaffee Hallmark and Eva Dorothea Pfeiffer Hallmark at #11 North Spring Street.She attended George Stone Hallmark Elementary School, named after her grandfather, W.A. Blount Junior High School and graduated from Pensacola High School on North Palafox Street.After high school she worked as a Rate and Claims Clerk for trucking companies. She married Stuart Thomas Crowe Smith of Perryville, MD, a U. S. Navy pilot, and moved to Seattle. Dorothy served as a P. T. A. President and was on the March of Dimes Board for 20 years. She and her daughter worshiped at N. A. S., and served on the Chapel Advisory Council. She was actively involved in genealogy, did historical research and loved to swim.Her husband, Stuart Thomas Crowe Smith; and brother, Thomas B. Campbell Jr. preceded her in death.She is survived by her daughter, Gladys Nickle "Suzi" Smith Matteson (James P.); grandchildren, Tiffany Nicole; Shelley Adair and James Stuart Matteson (Mary), and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great grandchild. Also surviving her are her siblings George Campbell, Lee Sorrells, Emily Bell, and Pat Campbell.A Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am, Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Procession will depart Harper-Morris at 10:30am for a 11:00am Graveside Service at Barrancas National Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Gantzhorn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Family Ministries, 6915 North Hwy 29, Molino, FL 32577.HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
