Obituary of Dorothy Johnson


Johnson, Dorothy, 83, of Bedford, formerly of Lexington, died May 7, 2013, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington with family by her side. Mrs. Johnson was born December 12, 1929, in Medford, MA to Lawrence and Violet (Tucker) Chetwynde. She attended Somerville Public Schools and worked and retired from Marshalls in Bedford after 35 years. She enjoyed ceramics, playing and cheating at Gin Rummy, going on cruises to Bermuda with family, gardening, playing POGO and puzzles. She is survived by her children, Jane Pierce of Rome, NY, Frank Johnson and his wife Teresa of Rome, NY, Doreen Carlson of Nashua, NH, Kevin Johnson and his wife Suzanne of Chelmsford, Christal Carley and her husband Robert of Woburn, Wendy Johnson of Worcester, Wayne Johnson and wife Pamela of Nashua, NH. Grandchildren Jennifer Johnson, Holly Peirce, Heather Peirce, Frank Johnson, Amedeo Johnson, Justin Johnson, Michael Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Jacqueline Carley, MacKenzie Johnson, and the late Erick Carlson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Johnson, sisters Mae Skelton, Violet Messier, brothers George Chetwynde, Larry Chetwynde, dogs, Harley and Brandy. A funeral service was celebrated Friday May 10 at the Church of Our Redeemer, 6 Meriam St. Lexington at 11am. Donations in her memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Fund at www.woundedwarriorfund.org. Private interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
