Dorothy Johnson, born in 1923, spouse of Henry-Allan Johnson, daughter of William and Marie, mother of Tom and Bill, died on November 16, 2014 at 91 years old.
JOHNSON, Dorothy Marie (nee Oxborough) Dorothy passed away peacefully on November 16, 2014 at the age of 91. Reunited with her husband Henry Allan Johnson with whom she shared sixty years of marriage. Daughter of William and Marie Oxborough of Banff Alberta, predeceased by her brothers Donald, George, and Jack. Dorothy leaves behind, her two sons Tom, Bill and daughter-in-law, Susan Johnson. Lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren Alex, Janine, Sarah, Stephanie, and Joseph; great-grandchildren Linden, Kylie, Isabella, Abigail, and extended family members. As one of Canada's Premier Portrait artists, Dorothy met and painted varied personalities from the likes of Alberta's Chief of Justice, to the Harlem Globetrotter's Owner and Coach. Throughout her 62 year career, Dorothy's passion and love in portraiture was painting first nations children. It is with deep sadness that we mark the passing of this gentle, kind, and talented woman. Friends, Family, and those that loved her work are welcome to join us for her memorial on December 6, 2014 at 2:30 pm at Sands Funeral Chapel (1803 Quadra St., Victoria).
