Dorothy J. Maryott Simonds of Binghamton Dorothy J. Maryott Simonds, 80, of Binghamton, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Binghamton General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Herbert Simonds, Sr.; her parents, John H. Maryott and Cora F. Garner; a sister, Kathryn J. Knapp; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica L. Simonds. She is survived by her children, Herbert L. Jr. and Lindy Simonds, Daniel L. Simonds, Gail A. and William Malane; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson; her dog, "Bear." She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Binghamton. Dorothy was a retired secretary with the N.Y.S. Department of Labor. She enjoyed travel. The family wishes to thank the staff of Memorial 6 at Binghamton General Hospital for their care and kindness. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Ann S. Blair will officiate. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery, Hillcrest. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Humane Society, 3 Jackson St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13903.
