Dorothy Dot, born in 1912, spouse of Russell Libby, daughter of Henry and Mary, mother of Douglas and Robert, died on June 4, 2008 at 96 years old.
Dorothy Dot Libby, 96 PORTLAND -- Dorothy Dot Q. Libby, 96, of Falmouth died June 4, 2008, at Cedars attended by her favorite nurses. She was born in Newbury, Mass., on March 8, 1912, the daughter of Mary (Cole) and Henry Quincy. The family moved to Portland and she attended Portland Public Schools through the 8th grade. She then attended Waynflete School, the former Westbrook Seminary and then college studies in Connecticut. Dot returned to Portland and was an executive secretary at several local businesses, including the Colonial Silver Company belonging to her family. In the early 1940s she met and married Russell F. Libby and together they had two sons. For many years Dot was active in the Ladies Guild at the Foreside Community Church in Falmouth. She also served as Treasurer of the Maine Council of Girl Scouts in the 60s and 70s. Friendships were always very important to Dot and were maintained throughout her life. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas Libby of Brazil, SA, and Robert Libby of Oxford; her granddaughters, Naomi Libby of Gardiner and Justine Libby of Portland; her niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Russell Libby. Visiting hours will be on Monday, June 9, 2008, from 5-8 p.m., at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
