DOROTHY COX MICHIGAN CITY, IN Dorothy Cox, age 80, of Michigan City, IN, departed this life to live with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. A private family memorial service and burial was held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens of Schererville, IN. Dorothy was born August 26, 1929 in Elkfork, KY to Jesse and Arminta Ball. On September 14, 1943, she married Ora Cox and moved to East Chicago, IN where she was a life long participant in his ministry. Together they raised two sons and three daughters. Following Ora's retirement, they moved to Belton, KY. In 1999 she and Ora moved to Coffeen, IL to be near family. Following Ora's death in 2007, she moved to Michigan City, IN. She was a loving wife and mother, and a devoted servant to our Lord. Her beautiful smile and gentle, loving nature will be missed by the countless lives she touched. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Ora; her parents; and eight siblings. Surviving to cherish her memory are sons: Michael (DeVonna) Cox of Hewitt, TX and Paul Cox of San Antonio, TX; daughters: Patricia (James) Forrest of LaPorte, IN, Elaine LaWell of Munster, IN and Robin (Billy) Moore of Coffeen, IL; grandchildren: Kelly Koss of Union Mills, IN, Bart (Brenda) Koss of Walkerton, IN, Brian (Lauren) Cox of Houston, TX, Kevin (Christie) Cox of Mountain Village, CO and Leelannee Moore of Coffeen, IL; great-grandchildren: Evan and Emily Koss of Union Mills, IN; stepmother and lifelong best friend, Virginia Ball of Elkfork, KY; half-sisters: Florence (Edward) Gilliam of Elkfork, KY and Debbie (Louis) Skaggs of Moon, KY; and a host of nephews and nieces.
