Dorothy Lawrence Coleman, 74, wife of the late Stanley Coleman of Toad Ridge Road in Middlefield, died Friday, April 20, at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Meriden on Dec. 8, 1932, the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Emmons) Lawrence. She was educated in Middlefield schools and prior to retirement was employed as a production worker for over 35 years at Cooper Thermometer in Middlefield. Dory loved her family, her home, and her dog Jill. She was very proud of her grandchildren and very grateful for the loving care provided and support given by family members throughout her life. Health care providers were very important to Dory and she, along with family members, are deeply appreciative for the medical services she received from her primary care physician Dr. John Carbone, her cardiologist Dr. David Gallo, and especially her heart surgeon Dr. Robert Gallagher. The professional staff and other associates of Middlesex Hospital, The Masonic Home, and Hartford Hospital provided commendable services that were very much appreciated by Dory and her immediate family. Dory's family is comforted knowing that she is at peace in heaven laughing with her twin sister Cory and being reunited with her husband Stanley. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Dori and Don Gates of Durham, and Nancy and David Long of Killingworth; and two grandchildren, George Gates and Erin Christensen and her husband John. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and good friend, R. Wayne Flanagan from Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Coleman and her twin sister, Coralie Flanagan. Funeral Services were held at the Biega Funeral Home in Middletown. Burial will be in Middlefield Cemetery.
