Obituary of Dorothy Carter

CARTER, Dorothy Ellen, 69, of Timber Pines, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Claremont, N.H. and came here ten years ago from Pascoag, R.I. She was Catholic by faith and attended St. Theresa Catholic Church. She was an English teacher for 25 years in the Burrillville and Smithfield School systems. She was a regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution, and participated in numerous other educational and social associations. She enjoyed golfing, reading, and spending time with family and friends, She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Walter "Ted" Carter of Timber Pines; two sons, Walter Carter Jr. and his wife, Lynda of Suffolk, Va., and Philip Carter and his wife Debra of Warwick, R.I; one daughter, Alison Machaiek and her husband, David of Owls Head, Maine; one sister, Sylvia Scanlon of Hyanns, Mass.; one brother, William Scanlon of Greenville, R.I.; and four grandchildren, Katherine, M argaret, Brittany and Christopher. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at St. Theresa Catholic Church at 10 am. Mass will also be celebrated at a later date at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Pascoag, R.I. with imminent at Pascoag Cemetery.
