Dorothy C. McQueen, 85, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, with her family at her side. Dorothy was born to Fred and Bertha Lange on a farm near Woodstock, Illinois, and graduated from Woodstock High School. Dorothy and Walter McQueen, her devoted husband, were married in San Francisco, Calif., in 1945, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They raised four children. Walter and their oldest son, Gary, preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Terry McQueen and wife MA, Woodstock, Ill., son Alan McQueen, Little Rock, Ark., and a daughter, Robin Fuzzell and husband, Gary, Springfield, Mo. She had five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Her most memorable time was spent with her children and grandchildren. Times spent traveling with Lee Evertson were also very special memories. She also enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, taking care of her house plants, and playing cards with friends and family. Dorothy's Family would like to send a special thank you to her Pastor's at Redeemer Lutheran Church and all the people at The Gardens Assisted Living. A memorial service will be held in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2852 S. Dayton Ave., Springfield, Mo., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Lung Association (2053 S. Waverly, Springfield, MO 65804) in memory of Dorothy McQueen.
