BOOTH, Dorothy Bain, of Zephryhills, Fla., went to be with her Lord December 16, 2008, after a struggle with cancer. Dorothy was born in Walkerville, Mich., January 15, 1917. Her mother passed away at an early age and the wonderful Jeanette Woodard and family graciously cared for her and her siblings. Upon graduation from high school, she was offered a position at the post office. In 1934, she married Harold and their honeymoon took them to St. Petersburg, Fla., where her carpenter father and stepmother resided. Thus began a desire to retire to Florida. She remained a devoted wife and mother, who served her church, family and neighbors throughout her life. Retirement began in 1971, with sunshine and dancing for a short time in Lakeland, Fla., then Betmar and finally to the Tourist Club in Zephyrhills. She will be remembered for her love of life and quick wit, but most of all for her kind, generous and giving spirit. We rejoice knowing her battle with lymphoma has ended, and she is once again waltzing, this time with Jesus. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harold L.; her son, Harold (Mick); and her siblings, Harrison and Lois; and three great-grandchildren, Tommy, Kari and Jamie Wood. Her survivors include loving daughters, Marlene Wood, Louise Irwin (Robert); devoted son, David (Mary), daughter-in-law, Nancy (Mick); fifteen grand children; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great grandchildren. The family is grateful to Dr. Saraiya and the Florida Medical Staff Hernando-Pasco Hospice, First Congregational Church Family and our friends and neighbors in Spanish Trails Senior Village. A memorial celebration will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2008, at First Congregational Church, Fort King Road, in Zephyrhills, with the Rev. Owens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 3 p.m. service at Grant Reformed Church. Internment will be at Ashland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the building fund of First Congregational Church of Zephyrhills, 7900 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills FL 33539 or Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 37445 Clinton Ave., Dade City, FL 33525.
