Dorothy T. (Tillman) Age 73 of Haines City, FL and formerly of Hammondsport and Pulteney, NY passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2001 at home, after a long, courageous bout with cancer. Born on September 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Erwin G. and Mary (Sullivan) Tillman. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Arthur T. Anderson Jr. In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Lynne R. Anderson-Quinn (David) of Barre, VT; and her two sons, Terry J. Hough (Karen) of Kissimmee, FL and Arthur T. Anderson III of Fort Walton Beach, FL; two brothers, Charles E. Tillman (Carolyn) of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Robert Gus Tillman (Marie) of Rock Stream, NY; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Dorothy joins her beloved sister, Marlyn Tillman Tuhoski, who passed away May 9, 2001. Dorothy graduated from Hammondsport Central School in 1945 and joined the Bell Telephone Company, as an operator, in Bath where she married Freeman Hough. In 1952 she became a telephone operator for the VA Center in Bath until 1954 when she became Chief Switchboard Operator for Corning Glass Works, now Corning Inc. In 1996, she left Corning to travel with her husband, Arthur, to different jobs from Louisiana, Michigan, West Virginia and Rochester to the Winter Olympics site in Lake Placid, NY. When they settled down at their Lake Keuka home, Dorothy worked as the tax assessor for Pulteney for a few years. She was an enthusiastic Friend of the Pulteney Library and was a member of the Eastern Stars of Hammondsport. As she wished, there will be no flowers, no calling hours and no memorial services. Dorothy loved to read abd she would want all memorial donations sent to the Pulteney and Hammondsport Libraries or the Southern Tier Hospice in Corning. Arrangements are by the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport, NY.
