Dorothy Smith "Dottie" Anderson, 85, of 18707 Regatta Road, Humble, Texas, and a longtime resident of Easley, died June 20, 2007, at Vitas Hospice in Houston, Texas.Born in New Orleans, La., she was a daughter of the late William J. and Mary Eloise Aikman Smith. Mrs. Anderson graduated from Behrman High School in Algiers, La. She had one sister, the late Grace Wooderson of West Columbia, Texas. In 1940, she married Rev. David G. Anderson. They soon moved to South Carolina and served in churches around the state, including George's Creek, Columbia, Williston, Union, Charleston Heights, North Charleston and Easley. Their wonderful marriage lasted for 64 years. As a minister's wife, she spent those years assisting in all aspects of church ministry, teaching Sunday school every year to various age groups, working in the WMU, Vacation Bible School and being a true help-mate.Dottie's life was about others, and she showed it in her unselfish actions each day. Her Christian example taught lessons to all she encountered in the church and community. For over 40 years, her life in Easley was one of dedication to the members of the First Baptist Church. Dottie taught the Philathea Sunday School class for many years, a lovely group of ladies that were also dear friends. As her vision and general health declined, she realized it was time to "let her light shine" somewhere else. She moved to Texas to live with her daughter and son-in-law and be near her grandson. Even in this transition to Texas, her ability to set examples and bring joy to her family and others continued. She was a Christian lady who loved her church, her family, her friends, her computer, chocolates, and more recently, the Houston Astros baseball team.Dottie was predeceased by her husband in 2004.
