DOROTHY BONOT Peacefully with her loving family by her side, Dorothy Bonot passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 1999 after a long battle with cancer. Dorothy was born Aug. 15, 1928 to Axel and Laura (Ducharme) Anderson on her grandparents’ farm along Highway 621 in the Township of Pratt. She attended school at S.S.#1 Pratt and Rainy River High School. Dorothy graduated as a Registered Practical Nurse from La Verendrye General Hospital School of Nursing, and later graduated as a Registered Radiological Technician from Confederation College. She retired after 35 years with the Canadian Red Cross and Riverside Health Care Emo Hospital X-Ray Department. Dorothy married Arthur Bonot of Vasser, Man. on Feb. 27, 1948 at Bergland, Ont. and together they started married life in Emo, Ont. Surviving is her husband, Arthur of Emo, Ont.; sons Bryan and wife, June, of Stratton, Ont., and Nevin and wife, Diane, of Devlin, Ont., one daughter, Denise and husband, Dave Bliss, of Fort Frances, Ont.; seven grandchildren, Shannon and husband, Derek Jackson, Laureen Bliss and Dave Searle, Jackie Bonot and Andy McCormick, and Rick, Trevor, Giselle, and Michelle Bonot; and great-grandson, Davis James Jackson. Also surviving are one sister, Helen and husband, Ken Oien, of Emo, Ont.; three sisters-in-law, Isabelle and husband, Oscar Beaudry, Theresa Sleeman, and Lou Bonot; one brother-in-law, Roger Bonot; her favourite cousin, Joyce and husband, Peter Albright; and dear friend, Elaine Wilson of many years. Dorothy served many years in volunteer work, and spent more than 30 years with the Agricultural Society of Emo; 27 years as secretary-treasurer for the Clearwater Lake Roads Board; 30 years as club representative for the Northwestern Ontario Curling Association; over 25 years with the Catholic Women’s League, Emo Canadian Legion and Legion Auxiliary, and secretary for the Emo Curling Club and Arena Board. She also held Level II coaching for Curl Canada, and was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and C.W.L. She loved her job and workmates, curled and coached for many years with the Emo Curling Club, and spent many loving hours at the cottage camping with her family and grandchildren. A funeral mass was held Friday, May 21, 1999 at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Emo. Father James Panikulam officiated, with interment in Emo Cemetery in Emo. Prayers were offered Thursday, May 20, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Emo. Pallbearers were her nephews, Guy Beaudry, Duane Boutang, Marvin Cayer, and Roger Storkson, and nieces, Kathy Rea and Laura Boileau. Honourary pallbearers were Elaine Wilson, Ethel Mather, Jeannie Morphet, Mary Cain, Adelia Guba, Irene Baranowski, and Joyce Albright. In memoriam donations may be directed to either the Emo Hospital Building Fund, 260 Front St., Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0, or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation--Amethyst House, 290 Munro St., Thunder Bay, Ont., P7A 7T1.
